Edward and Mary (Wadsworth) Hutchins

.....EDWARD HUTCHINS was born March 8, 1852 in Ganges Township, the son of Harrison and Laura (Hudson) Hutchins.  He was married November 10, 1874 to Mary A. Wadsworth at the home of her father in Saugatuck Township.  they had their home on a farm in Ganges Township during most of their married life.  He was educated at Kalamazoo College, having nearly finished the science course there, and during the last year they lived in that city.  They lived in Chicago for a time while he was on the editorial staff of the Chicago Sentinal, a greenback paper of the period.  He was also editor of a paper of like politics in Indianapolis, Indiana for a time.  He was nominated for the legislature on a Greenback ticket against Royal C. Eaton on the Republican side, but lost by a margin of about a dozen votes.

.....Mary A. Wadsworth was born July 27, 1853 in Saugatuck Township and died October 3, 1923.  Mary A. Wadsworth and her two daughters were lovely characters beloved by all who knew them.

The daughters were: 
.....Ada E., born November 12, 1876, married Robert N. Davidson, august 3, 1911.  Ada took a course in Kalamazoo College in literature and music.  She finished with a post-graduate course at the Chicago Musical College and was a teacher of recognized ability.  Ada's son, Dr. Edward Davidson, born July 23, 1912, was a professor of English Literature at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois.  the couple had a second son, Hugh, born September 2, 1914.
.....Zoe E., born July 14, 1881, married William C. Watson, December 28, 1912. Zoe received her deploma in the literary course at Kalamazoo College and taught from graduation until the time of her marriage. They had three children,

..........Leland Hutchins Watson, born February 24, 1919.

After the death of Mary, Edward married Mrs. Eva Willis of Sparta, September 6, 1927.
